Well, what a challenge it turned out to be!!....13.1 miles tough jogging through the mud up and over Cleeve Hill…… as I took part in the 2016 Cheltenham Challenge Half Marathon. Luckily I had my daughter-in-law, Naomi, alongside and we pounded the streets of Prestbury and then the countryside of Cheltenham for two and a half hours, stopping only briefly at the IT Schools Africa water station en route.
The views are absolutely stunning from Cleeve Common and, although the steep climb of Aggs Hill was a killer, the scenery at the top and the lovely descent through Southam and back to the Racecourse, made it a fantastic experience that I probably won’t ever repeat! I think this year the Challenge should be renamed the ‘Mud Run’ as it really was a quagmire in places and my new trainers will never quite be the same! I am extremely grateful to all those lovely people who kindly sponsored me to raise money for the Warehouse Equipment Project at IT Schools Africa, a really worthwhile cause, I’ve smashed the target thanks to you all.

And hats off to those who undertook the full Marathon and Ultra Marathon courses, 2 and 3 laps of the course…… you’re officially mad!
