What have you learnt during your week at IT Schools Africa?
I’ve learnt how to dismantle a computer and solve problems involving the hardware and software. I’ve also been taught how to install and activate software and how to use different Bios.
What has been the most challenging aspect of the week?
Using different Bios systems was a challenge as each procedure changed slightly each time. However, the staff and other volunteers were on hand to guide me through it.
Do you think your work experience will help with your university application?
It should definitely help with my application as my interest in computers and skills will be demonstrated. In addition, my commitment and love of charity work will be evident.
Why did you choose IT Schools Africa?
I chose ITSA because it combined my wish to volunteer at a charity and gain some computer skills. Moreover, my development not only benefitted me but also children in Africa, which is great.
Would you recommend your experience to anyone, if so who?
I will be recommending ITSA to other students at my school who either wish to volunteer and gain computer skills, or those who are interested in pursuing a career in the IT industry. Also to anyone who is good with computers and would like to use their skills to help others.
