ITSA Introduces...Simon

Although our end goal is to supply schools in Africa with access to e-learning, a lot of work has to be done in the UK to begin the process. That is where ITSA's UK Operations Manager, Simon, comes in! Simon's role involves managing and organising volunteers and ensuring the UK operations run as smoothly as possible....

Cheltenham Challenge; Sheila runs half a marathon!

Our fundraising manager Sheila Pullin took part in the Cheltenham Challenge, an event held by our sister charity CCP (County Community Projects). This was her experience of the day:

Well, what a challenge it turned out to be!!....13.1 miles tough jogging through the mud up and over Cleeve Hill…… as I took part in the 2016 Cheltenham Challenge Half Marathon.  Luckily I had my daughter-in-law, Naomi, alongside and we pounded the streets of Prestbury and then the countryside of Cheltenham for two and a half hours, stopping only briefly at the IT Schools Africa water station en route.

The views are absolutely stunning from Cleeve Common and, although the steep climb of Aggs Hill was a killer, the scenery at the top and the lovely descent through Southam and back to the Racecourse, made it a fantastic experience that I probably won’t ever repeat!  I think this year the Challenge should be renamed the ‘Mud Run’ as it really was a quagmire in places and my new trainers will never quite be the same!  I am extremely grateful to all those lovely people who kindly sponsored me to raise money for the Warehouse Equipment Project at IT Schools Africa, a really worthwhile cause,  I’ve smashed the target thanks to you all.

And hats off to those who undertook the full Marathon and Ultra Marathon courses, 2 and 3 laps of the course…… you’re officially mad!

It's that time of year again! Monday 13th June 2016 marks the start of #SmallCharityWeek a week of celebrations to recognise all small charities in the UK and raise awareness of the excellent work they do.

As a small UK based charity ourselves, we wanted to get involved! We asked our some of our team what it was they loved about  IT Schools Africa...

Star Shoppers

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Give as you Live really is the simplest way of raising money for charity that comes at no cost to you. We know it sounds far too good to be true, but it really is these shoppers even say so…
“Give as you Live is a great way to raise free donations, it is so simple to set up and actually very rewarding when you see the amount you have raised for charity increase.”
- Beth Swarbrick, Give as you Live supporter.
“For me it’s a win-win situation, I buy online which is convenient and I get to donate to my chosen charity – but it costs me nothing!  I find it very satisfying to see my overall total grow – I always look for retailers that offer the best percentage when choosing where to buy from!  My top donation was £16.37 when I booked my holiday.”
- Lucy Mambali, Give as you Live supporter.
