ITSA Introduces...Beth

I joined the ITSA team in June 2015 to complete my 12-month placement as part of my degree from The University of Gloucestershire. As I now come to the end of my year at ITSA, I wanted to take some time to reflect on my experiences.

When I first started at IT Schools Africa I remember being amazed at just how much the charity does not only in Africa, but in the UK as well. I had looked into the charity before starting and read about what they do but honestly, you really have to see it to believe it.

I have a lot to thank ITSA for, they have given me some incredible opportunities during my time working here - too many to list them all! I think my favourite memory from the year would be when we sent out the charity's first shipment of 1,000 computers in December. Sometimes it is easy to lose sight of what you are working towards, but when shipment day comes around it reminds you that you are actually making a difference and giving other students a chance to have what we take for granted.

I want to say a HUGE thank you to every single person in the ITSA team, you truly are a wonderful bunch and I feel very lucky to have got to know you all over the year.

I wish you all the very best for the future!

Thank you SGS Product Design students!

Four Product Design students at SGS College have been busy working on an exciting project for IT Schools Africa. Max, Ollie, Lizzie and Josh (photographed above) came to visit ITSA to discuss how we could work together on a project that utilises their remarkable skills while at the same time capturing what IT Schools Africa is all about.

Inspired from creative reuse ideas researched online, we asked the students if they would be able to create us our own unique map of Africa, utilising old computer components.

To say we are pleased with what the students have created for us would be an understatement. We cannot say thank you enough - it is very clear that a lot of hard work and effort went into creating the maps. They now take pride of place in our office,  and have become quite a talking point amongst staff, volunteers and visitors of ITSA.

“I really enjoyed working together as a team  on this project and overcoming different challenges that came up. We really wanted to make something that looks good and fits perfectly with the brief”
