Although we do our very best to fix any broken IT equipment that is donated to us, sometimes we just have to accept that some equipment is broken beyond repair. However, we still think there are better ways to utilise this equipment then to throw it away, or leave it taking up space somewhere. Here are 6 ways we found other people have reused their broken electronics.... Have you created a unique item from broken electronics? Tweet us your creations @itschoolsafrica

Here at ITSA we have been busy planning for the year ahead, making goals for 2016. This year we need to continue to send IT equipment to Africa, to support more students and close the digital divide sooner.
To make this a reality we are in need of your help. We desperately need more IT equipment to meet the need for computers in Africa. If you can help, whether its one flat screen monitor, or 100 computers then please get in touch. Right now we urgently need: - Keyboards - Mice - Kettle leads - Flat screen monitors You can find all other required equipment here. Thank you for continuously supporting ITSA and changing lives in Africa. We've all been there, you sit staring at the black screen on your laptop, testing the old 'switch it off and back on' method before you come to the realisation that your basic IT skills are not going to help you on this one.
When you rely on your laptop or computer for work, staying in touch with friends, ordering goods, or booking services, it can seem like the end of the world when our trusted gadgets stop working. That is where ITSA community tech support can help. Run by our very own IT specialists, Monis Khalifa and Paul Samways, the support service has been set up to help local people with their IT dilemmas. Although we cannot guarantee to fix every device that comes through the door, our team have many years of experience solving all kinds of IT related problems. If we are unable to repair the computer ourselves, we can give you trustworthy recommendations for the best solution for you. As the name suggests, ITSA community tech support is all about helping people in the local community. If you or someone you know lacks the confidence to carry out everyday IT tasks then we want to help! Whether it is sending an email, creating a word document, or even setting up your own Skype account. Find out more about our ITSA community tech support. Well here we are at the start of another year ready to make 2016 better and bigger for IT Schools Africa!
ITSA ended 2015 on a high, sending our biggest ever shipment of 1,000 computers in early December. We have no plans of slowing down this year with our next shipment already being prepared ready to be sent off in a few weeks time. In 2016 IT Schools Africa aim to give more students across Africa an education in IT. We plan to continue to work with businesses, schools, universities and individuals in the UK to recycle IT equipment, by giving it a new life and purpose in Africa. We will continue to work with our partner charities in Africa to help more schools be able to give high quality IT lessons. All in all it is set to be a great year for ITSA, and you can be part of it simply by supporting us either by donating your IT equipment, fundraising for us or helping spread the word amongst your friends and family! Have a great 2016! |
