ittrainingcentre2.jpg The ITSA Computer Training Centre in Cheltenham - in association with charity IT Schools Africa (ITSA) - runs an ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence) course, the recognised global standard for essential, broad-spectrum training in IT skills.

Doing an ICDL course is a useful, easy to learn and fun way to receive an excellent grounding in IT skills. A sound knowledge of different aspects of a computer will open up a world of new opportunities for you, which can really change your life. It's not just IT jobs that require computer skills - these days most roles need at least a basic knowledge of IT, and proficient IT skills enhance confidence, efficiency and performance in the workplace.

ICDL is an internationally recognised qualification designed to prove you have a fundamental understanding of working with IT. Broken down into seven modules, the course covers all the most important aspects of day-to-day computing, such as word processing and managing files. As well as gaining a valuable qualification, you'll learn skills you can put into practice straight away.

Achieving ICDL will improve your chances of getting ahead in the job market; having it on your CV will impress employers and give you the edge over other applicants.  As ICDL is recognised in over 140 countries, it will also benefit you should you wish to work abroad.

ICDL consists of the following seven topic areas, called 'modules':

Basic Concepts of IT
Using the Computer and Managing Files
Word Processing
Spreadsheets
Database
Presentation
Information and Communication

More information about each module is detailed in the 'Course Breakdown' section.  While students can choose to take as few or as many modules as they like, each of the seven modules must be passed before an ICDL certificate is awarded. Once a candidate is registered at our centre, a logbook listing all seven modules is issued.

Getting an ICDL qualification isn't just about helping your career. You will also find it helps in your everyday life, both at home and at work: good IT skills in the modern age make life much simpler, less stressfull and more enjoyable.
