The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge have donated equipment.
The computers and monitors donated came from their main offices in Slimbridge, as well as their other sites around the country such as Martin Mere, Llanelli and Caerlaverlock. There were 52 computers and 44 monitors in all, and a donation towards collection and refurbishment of £250 was also made. Ian Wood, IT manager at Slimbridge, was happy to know the old equipment was going to a good cause and not just being scrapped.
The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust will be featuring IT Schools Africa in their magazine soon, as we equip schools in areas of Africa where they carry out research into the migratory habits of birds that visit the UK. Schools equipped with computers will be better able to educate children about the importance of conservation, and the role this plays in developing tourism in countries desperate for foreign currency.

IT technicians John Herivel and Mike Davis hand over equipment outside Slimbridge's iconic tower.
